Dallas Reporter Has Absolutely No Idea How an NBA Trade Works

A Dallas reporter asked Rajon Rondo a really dumb question about how he ended up a Maverick

Rajon Rondo was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday. Now, when it comes to trades, there can be legitimate questions asked to fully understand it, like how player salaries fit in with each team's salary cap, or whether Dallas will be accepting of Rondo's alien hands or not. But the basic concept of a trade, an exchange of players between parties, isn't a concept that is difficult to compute.

Unless, of course, you are the woman in the above video, who asked Rondo at his introductory press conference, "What was the main reason you decided to come to Dallas?"

You can see Mavericks owner Mark Cuban begin to chuckle almost immediately, as if to say, "I LAUGH AT THE IGNORANT QUESTIONS OF THE PEASANTS BEFORE ME." Even usually stoic head Rick Carlisle can't hide his smile. Rondo, ever the professional (or just void of emotion entirely), calmly hits her with the best answer possible.

"It really wasn't my decision," he says.

Look, maybe it's not the reporter's fault. Maybe the usual sports writer at whatever media company she works for was out sick when the trade happened, and this woman is actually a crime reporter and has never watched a basketball game in her life. It could've been worse. She could have called him Sam Cassell, or something.
