Vikings Offensive Lineman Matt Kalil Apologizes for Knocking a Heckler's Hat Off His Head

What was he thinking?

By the time they make it to the pros, most athletes are used to dealing with and ignoring hecklers. So when a Vikings fan heckled Minnesota offensive lineman Matt Kalil after a loss to the Packers on Sunday, the heckler probably didn't expect Kalil to respond. But Kalil did respond to him by turning around, asking the guy to repeat what he said, and then knocking his large, furry hat off his head. You can watch the brief confrontation between the two in this Vine:

After the incident took place, the heckler—later identified as Rhett Wade—took to Twitter to explain what caused Kalil to flip out on him.

"[We] just watched Matt Kalil cost us the game, so when he came out, I really didn't want to see him," Wade wrote, "so I said to him…'Where do you want to be traded?' And he was on his phone, and when it finally registered with him what I said he turned and then he told me to 'get the fuck outta here' and then i said 'I'd rather have your brother than you on my team'…[Then] he walked away like he didn't hear what I said, but then he turned back around and asked me what I said again and then I repeated what I said again and then he proceeded to grab my hat off my head and throw it on the ground and mumble some stuff."

Not very nice, right? Right. Even though Wade wasn't very nice to him, Kalil probably should have just kept walking and not bothered with him. And by now, Kalil has realized that. He issued an apology for his actions a short time ago.

"Obviously I was a little upset," he said. "But hopefully you guys didn't take anything personally. It was just one of those days, so I apologize for that."

Okay, so maybe it wasn't the best apology. But it was an apology and, frankly, we can't get too mad at Kalil for what he did. Even though it's never a good idea to go after a fan, it sounds like that guy probably deserved to have his hat knocked off.
