Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook Might Return for the Thunder Later This Week

Oklahoma City could sure use them right now.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are in bad shape right now. Through the first month of the 2014-15 NBA season, the Thunder are just 3-12. And while they do have a bunch of winnable games on their schedule in the coming weeks—they play the likes of the Jazz, 76ers, Pistons, and Bucks—they also need to turn things around and turn them around quickly if they want to have a chance to make the playoffs this season. And in order to do that, they need their injured superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to return to their lineup ASAP.

They might get both of them back soon, too. Although their returns are still up in the air, Thunder coach Scott Brooks revealed that Durant and Westbrook both practiced on Monday and "looked good." And while he wouldn't say exactly when they'll be back, he didn't rule out the possibility of one or both of them returning on Friday when OKC plays the Knicks.

"Don't know," he said when asked if Westbrook would be ready in time for the game. "Just focus on his work he put in today and continue to build on that. He'll get evaluated later on this week and we'll make some of those decisions later on."

If you're a Thunder fan, you probably shouldn't get your hopes up just yet. Durant and Westbrook returning this week is ambitious at best. But at the very least, both players are practicing again. So it's only a matter of time before they come back and start trying to dig the Thunder out of the hole that they're in right now.
