Brittney Griner plays for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury. But during her WNBA offseasons, she also plays overseas in China for a team called the Beijing Great Wall in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association. And unfortunately, she was involved in a pretty wild situation today while boarding a bus with a handful of her teammates.

According to Griner's agent Lindsay Kagawa Colas, Griner and one of her teammates were attacked by a man with a knife as they attempted to get onto their team bus on Tuesday afternoon. The man reportedly approached the players, started yelling, and then attacked the players with the knife. He stabbed Griner but only managed to cut her on the elbow because she was wearing a winter jacket at the time of the attack. And her teammate was also stabbed, but she managed to walk away completely uninjured because she had on two jackets.

A short time after the altercation, police were called and they were able to apprehend the man, who returned to the scene of the crime covered in blood after they arrived. It's unclear at this time why he attacked the women. But we'll be sure to provide you with more details concerning the attack when they become available.
