John Oliver, the host of HBO's weekly news show Last Week Tonight, has been killing it for the past few months, breaking down some of the most complex and devastating issues of American culture and politics into pointed, well-researched, and hilarious news segments. He's spoken on anything from Ferguson to click-bait, distinguishing himself from his former employer The Daily Show despite their similar formats.

However, last night on the Late Show with David Letterman, Oliver sat down with Letterman to discuss an issue near and dear to his heart: English soccer. As a native Brit, Oliver knows all the ins-and-outs of the Premier League, and happily explained them to Letterman, a novice to the sport. Much like his show, Oliver's explanation was by turns informative and funny.

"We've managed to get the class system in sport," said Oliver, while explaining relegation. "Like Downton Abbey, you are relegated downstairs to the servant's quarters."

He also took a shot at the big-spending taking place within the EPL, and how it fosters inequality among clubs.

"Money talks," said Oliver. "And it shouts."

Eventually, after Letterman became so disillusioned by the financial realities of the game, he asked, "So, what's the point now of getting your hopes up of working your way into the Premier League?"

"You are literally embodying why soccer will never take off in the United States," said Oliver, laughing. "Because you can talk about it as long as you want, you eventually get to the point of an American going, 'So, what's the point? What's the point of all this?'"

LOL. Someone make sure the MLS doesn't see this video.
