To say that Roger Goodell has mishandled the current Ray Rice situation is a bit of an understatement.

After initially handing down the most criticized two-game suspension ever, Goodell backtracked on Monday, sidelining Rice indefinitely after the disturbing video of the ex-Raven punching his then-fiance Janay Palmer back in February was released by TMZ.

That would be a good reversal, if not for the Tuesday report from TMZ stating that the NFL could have had access to this video months ago, if only they had asked. As news broke out on Tuesday that, basically, Goodell was willfully ignorant of the assault perpetuated by Rice, Twitter bubbled up as it tends to do on its best days. Within moments, the #FireGoodell hashtag was trending worldwide and the commissioner's mentions turned to shambles.

Like so:

1.

Roger Goodell is a spineless coward and a pathetic excuse for a commissioner. NFL fans deserve better.

2.

Seriously though Goodell is a dick head. Thought he was above reproach. Cocky, Confident, Dead. #FireGoodell

3.

Sure, Roger Goodell is an incompetent, hypocritical disgrace who should resign. But take heart: At least he only made $44 million last year.

4.

Lots of self-righteous dork journalists refusing to write "Redskins" when it turns out "Roger Goodell" is a much more offensive term.

Dan Gilbert probably just let out a huge sigh of relief on that last one.
