In a preseason clash between two of the Internet’s biggest football stars, Michael Sam and the St. Louis Rams took on Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns last night. Not that it’s relevant, but the Rams won 33-14.
Really, the only play that mattered was Sam sacking Manziel, then stealing his “money” celebration. It was basically a declaration of who is truly king of Twitter, at least for the time being. While Manziel was better throwing the ball and even ran for his first NFL touchdown, Sam had two sacks on the night to bring his total to three on the preseason.
Johnny Football may get all the hype, but when the games count he’s going to be holding a clipboard. For now, the 7th round pick looks like he may be making a bigger on-field impact to start the season.
