Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount Were Arrested Yesterday After Police Found Marijuana in a Car They Were Driving in Together (Update)

Two Steelers running backs face drug charges after they got pulled over and found to be in possession of marijuana.

On the football field, running backs Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount are expected to be a great one-two punch for the Steelers this season. But off of it? Well, Pittsburgh might want to keep the two players separated.

On Wednesday afternoon, approximately two hours before the Steelers were set to fly to Philadelphia for their preseason game against the Eagles tonight, Bell, Blount, and an unidentified female passenger were pulled over in Ross Township, Pa. after a police officer on a motorcycle smelled marijuana wafting out of Bell's Chevrolet Camaro. They were arrested a short time later after the cop found a bag containing 20 grams of marijuana inside of the car and all three were charged with marijuana possession. Additionally, Bell is facing a misdemeanor DUI charge for driving under the influence of marijuana.

"We are aware of the reports and still gathering information," a Steelers spokesman said last night. "We will have no further comment at this time."

There's been no word yet as to whether or not Bell or Blount will play against the Eagles tonight. But it's worth noting that the Steelers don't have any other running backs with NFL experience on their roster right now. And that could be a potential problem if Bell and Blount's arrests result in a suspension from the NFL somewhere down the line.

UPDATE:

There are some conflicting out there about whether or not Blount was actually arrested after Bell got pulled over. According to CBS Sports, Blount was in the car with Bell but was not arrested. CBS Sports is also reporting that Blount did travel with the Steelers to Philly for their preseason game tonight. We'll continue to monitor the situation.

UPDATE 2:

Despite their legal troubles, it sounds like Bell and Blount are going to take the field for the Steelers tonight.
