Drake May Have Cost the Raptors $25,000 By Giving Kevin Durant a Shout Out During OVO Fest 2014

Did the NBA just fine the Raptors $25,000 because Drake shouted out Kevin Durant during OVO Fest 2014?

Drake wants Kevin Durant to come to Toronto in 2016 to play for the Raptors. So when KD attended OVO Fest 2014 last week, Drizzy made it a point to shout him out and to note that the entire city of Toronto would love to have him once he becomes a free agent in two years.

There's one problem with that, though: Drake is currently employed by the Raptors. And NBA teams are not allowed to actively pursue players who are under contract with other teams. So according to ESPN's Marc Stein, the league may have just fined the Raptors $25,000 because of what Drake said about the Thunder superstar during his concert:

The NBA hasn't confirmed the fine yet. But we wouldn't be surprised if they fined Toronto because of Drake. After all, he is working with the Raptors now. So he needs to be careful after tampering just like all of the other Raptors employees out there.

If this turns out to be true, do you think the Raps are gonna make Drake pick up the tab? We're gonna guess…no. The shout out—and the exposure that the shout out got later—was well worth $25K, especially if by some chance it helps Toronto land KD in 2016.
