For about 15 years, Charles Barkley and Tiger Woods were very good friends. They spoke on the phone regularly. They hung out. And they discussed, well, whatever it is that you discuss when you're two rich and famous athletes.

But during a recent radio show appearance, Barkley admitted that he and Tiger aren't as close as they used to be. In fact, he said that Tiger basically cut him out of his life back in November 2009 after his very public infidelity scandal.

"We're not friends anymore," Barkley said on the Mike Missanelli Show on WPEN-FM in Philadelphia.

However, Barkley was also quick to point out that even before the scandal rocked Woods' world, he and Tiger weren't as close as most friends are because Woods was always so focused on golf.

"I think that when you're as great as he has been—and this probably is a negative as some point—like he was so consumed with being the greatest golfer ever, he wasn't a very sociable guy," Barkley said. "Even when he was a friend of mine, he wasn't a very sociable guy. He just had a one-track mind. He just wanted to break Jack Nicklaus' record."

Barkley didn't sound all that broken up about losing Woods as a friend on the show. And at this point, it's been almost five years since he last spoke to Tiger, so maybe he's just over it. But it's interesting to hear how and why their relationship fell apart. And it makes us wonder where Tiger's head is at right now—and whether or not he's ever going to be able to get back into championship form.
