If you had just been entrusted with 150,000 Singapore dollars ($120,400), knowing full well that the person who gave it to you is very much expecting to get a Maserati in return, what would you do? If you're smart, you'd keep it safe and think of the sweet commission you're about to make.

If you're Allan Tan Buan Yuen of Singapore, you hit up the casino and lose all of the money. Then when the next installment of 200,000 Singapore dollars ($160,400) came in, you'd hit up the same casino to try to win the first installment back. When that didn't work, you'd fess up and go to prison for three years.

Not a good plan.
