Lionel Messi is the best soccer player in the world. At least, that's what a lot of soccer fans out there seem to think right now:

Messi is peerless. Simple as that. The best I've ever seen.
Messi subbed to a standing ovation, best player in the world by far, what an honour to watch him in action
Best player in the world and the most enjoyable to watch! Never know what he'll do next. #Messi #WorldCup2014

Against Nigeria today, Messi scored a goal within the first five minutes of the game:

And then, he followed it up by connecting on a super impressive free kick in stoppage time just before the end of the first half:

He's not going to get the chance to complete a hat trick, though, because a few minutes ago, with about 30 minutes remaining in the game, Messi was removed from the match. And it didn't go over well with a lot of people on Twitter:

The game isn't even won yet and you take messi out ? DUMBASS
U kidding me messi taking out of this , missing the hat trick yo #ARG
I wanted Messi to score more .. Why Sabella? Why?

Not to worry, though, guys. With Argentina in prime position to advance to the knockout stage, you'll have plenty of other opportunities to see Messi score. And if he's proved anything so far during the 2014 World Cup—scoring four goals in three games—it's that he will score again. So stay tuned.
