In the past, we've heard about NFL players offering their teammates all kinds of crazy things in exchange for their jersey numbers. In most instances, the players agree to give ridiculous amounts of money to their teammates for the numbers. But we've also seen them offer up things like diapers for numbers. According to Rodney Harrison, though, that is not the craziest thing that an NFL player has ever offered up for a number.
Earlier this week, the former NFL safety made an appearance on NBC Sports Network's Pro Football Talk and revealed that he once witnessed an NFL player offer up something so crazy for a jersey number that he almost didn't know how to react to it.
"A guy offered another guy $50,000 for his number and the guy said, 'No way, I need my number,'" Harrison said. "It just shows how superstitious these guys are and how connected they are to their number. But at the same time, then the next thing was probably the craziest thing. Money, people offer that all the time, but the guy said, 'Hey man, I'll allow you to sleep with my girlfriend.' Once he said that, I lost my mind. I said, 'No way can it be that serious.' I said, 'Obviously you don't love your girlfriend that much.'"
Obviously!
Listen, we're all for trying everything to get your hands on your jersey number. But it's not that serious, right? Er, RIGHT?! We feel bad for that guy's girlfriend.
