We're quite surprised at how short the life of the brilliant McLaren MP4-12C was, but after seeing the improvements heaped upon it in the wake of the P1's development to create the 650S, we're no surprised that 12C sales tanked. Of course, this meant that McLaren was going to need a new race car, and we've been waiting to see it.
Now it's here, and it looks awesome. McLaren is promising that it's more aerodynamic than the outgoing car, safer, has better cooling, and grippier. Better still, McLaren is continuing its grand tradition of not treating its customers like and expendable resource and offering many of the 650S GT3's upgrades to MP4-12C GT3 owners so that their cars will be competitive for a second cycle.
