Is another former Los Angeles Laker who played under Phil Jackson headed to the Big Apple? Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. But, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, the New York Knicks are "planning to make a determined attempt" to acquire Pau Gasol when the free agency period begins on July 1. With the 33-year-old Gasol, the Knicks are looking to fill the void in the paint left by Tyson Chandler who was dealt earlier this week to the Dallas Mavericks.

There's just going to be one huge roadblock in getting Pau to sign on the dotted line. With the Knicks currently well over the cap (what's new?), "New York is limited to offering Gasol less than $4 million for next season." And after averaging 17.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while earning $19.2 million last year, Pau may not be interested in taking that steep of a pay cut. However, the appeal of joining forces with The Zen Master may be enough to snag the 7-footer. We'll found out soon enough.
