It seemed fitting that a back-and-forth series would end with a most improbable finish, as the Los Angeles Kings’ Alec Martinez scored the game-winning goal at 5:47 of overtime on a deflection to send his team to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Playing on the road for Game 7, the Kings knocked off the Chicago Blackhawks after nearly coughing up a 3-1 series lead and trailing 3-2 after the first period and 4-3 after two.

The Kings have now played (and won) seven elimination games this postseason. They’ll play host to the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, which begins on Wednesday night. The teams split their two-game season series, with the road team winning both games.
