When reports surfaced that Carmelo Anthony was going to opt out of his contract with the New York Knicks, J.R. Smith's Twitter account blew up with people asking him about the future of his friend and teammate of "almost nine years" with the organization. Clearly frustrated by the incessant questions regarding Anthony, Smith may have spoken a little too off-the-cuff when someone asked him if he would ever talk to Melo again if he joined the Heat.

@B_Eds517 nope

Smith was approached about getting Carmelo to stay in the Big Apple, but he offered a different plan of attack.

Ok talk to him I'm sure he will after you talk to him! RT @cleggonator: .@TheRealJRSmith we need Melo to stay in NY!

So when someone took him up on the offer...

Ok 555 777 8888 RT @cleggonator: @TheRealJRSmith Aight all I need is his number and I'll make that happen

Eventually, one user picked up on Swish's growing frustration over his inability to control Melo's current situation...

Over my head! RT @shackanory: @TheRealJRSmith How fed up are you of people asking you about a situation you can't control?

In the end, J.R. has only one opinion on Anthony...

My opinion is let him do him RT @binmatar_7: @TheRealJRSmith @MMmvp56 hes your friend we want 2 know about your opinion

Now leave Swish alone.
