When we spoke to Scott Speed about this year's Global Rallycross effort, he said that they were really just waiting for the GRC Beetle to arrive before the ream fun could begin. Of course, he's winning absolutely everything, so it's not like the Polo was a bad car.
This is better, though. Volkswagen and Andretti Autosport have managed to get 544 horses out of this 1.6L turbocharged and intercooled I4 which only has to push a minimum weight of 2,668 lbs. The result is a 0-60 time of 2.1 seconds and a need for a massive rear wing at speed.
Better yet, in our interview with Speed, he made it pretty clear that a GRC-branded Beetle for the road is a distinct possibility.
