An emergency slide deployed during a United flight from Chicago to Orange County, Calif. and doomed passengers to an awful fate: stopping in Kansas. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing, but luckily no one was hurt (besides the emotional damage caused by any time spent in the land of the Jayhawks).

Emergency slides aren't supposed to deploy unless the aircraft door is open and the slide is engaged, so United isn't sure why this happened at 38,000 feet. The airline said it got another plane to their customers the fuck out of Kansas "to their final destination as quickly as possible."
