We all know how well the Tesla Model S has been received, but it's easy to forget how much the Roadster underperformed. You might think Elon Musk would just keep it moving, but he wants to do something to improve the car that ceased productionin 2012. We just have no idea what yet.

At a shareholder conference Musk promised the Roadster will be upgraded this year. "Yeah, we'll get it done this year," Musk said. "It'll be a cool thing. We said we're going to do it, we're going to do it, we're going to do something cool with the roadster later this year."

So what does that mean? It could be something as extensive as a recall or much simpler like a software update. Until Musk stops speaking in such vague terms, we're left to guess.
