Rams Draft Michael Sam in the Seventh Round

There must have been a lot of thinkpieces being prepared and fists being shaken as the rounds went by because of one name: Michael Sam. The defensive end and the SEC's co-defensive player of the year was originally projected to be a third-fourth rounder, but it looked increasingly likely he may go undrafted as the rounds ticked by.

The Rams took the chance, however. Sam is the first openly gay player ever to be drafted into the league as St. Louis takes him as the 249th pick in the seventh round
