What's the Most Luxurious New Car $35,000 Can Buy?

Clean, relaxing modern designs come out of Sweden like foul smells come out of that beefy dude in the seriously stained Yoda tee at the gym. The S60 is the most beautiful car that to come out of that beautiful Volvo camp. It doesn't hurt that it also drives amazingly well and is safer than bubble boy's bubble, either.

Lincolns are for suckers. The Ford Fusion Titanium is basically just Lincoln's luxury in Ford's much, much sexier body. If you're looking for a cheap-to-operate luxury car, test drive a Fusion Titanium and be pleasantly surprised by the blue oval.

The VW GTI isn't the classiest vehicle in the world, and it's front-wheel drive, but that's why the Audi A3 exists. Think of it as a GTI with AWD and an interior full of buttery Audi leather for just a few grand more. It's certainly the sweet spot below the mechanically similar A4 and the cheaper GTI.

America used to be the king of big sedans with big engines and the power going to the rear wheels, and the Chrysler 300 is proudly carrying on that tradition. This doesn't just have the comfortable ride and sophisticated interior that one would expect from a luxury car, but it also has the attitude and presence of a much more expensive car. If you're not that big on performance, and you just want to waft along in a reliable car that separates you from the outside world, doing its best Rolls-Royce impression, this might be the perfect car for you. The new generation has a stunning interior and is focused in every way on comfort.

The old 1-Series was a little frumpy looking, but its 2-Series successor is quite simply a beautiful car with a great engine up front, driven wheels in the back, fun handling, a comfortable ride, and a classy interior. For an auto enthusiast who wants refinement and performance, the Bimmer 2 is a great choice.

The BMW X1 once went beyond luxury for me in Toronto; it didn't just cosset my buttocks with heated seats or satisfy my hoon with quick acceleration, it also successfully helped me get away from a hobo who had locked his one eye on me while approaching rapidly and grabbing something in his pocket. Despite the snow and slush, I was gone in a flash, and that might be the best car feature of all time.

We drove the Dodge Dart Limited a little while ago and thought it was freakishly comfortable and beautifully designed, inside and out. The actual driving left quite a bit to be desired, but that's where the GT comes in. The Dart GT comes with the same perfect leather seats as the Limited, but it also comes with a better engine, a better transmission, and better suspension.
