Even if he doesn't make an NFL roster this summer, Michael Sam is still going to be all over your TV screen later this year.

Late yesterday, the St. Louis Rams defensive end and Oprah announced that they have come to terms on a deal that will result in an as-yet-untitled documentary series about Sam's life airing on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Specific terms about the deal were not released. But a camera crew has been following Sam around for the last few weeks in order to capture footage for the series, which will shine a spotlight on Sam's entire life and focus in on the fact that he is the first openly gay football player to get drafted and try to make an NFL roster.

"We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever," Oprah said in a statement released on Wednesday. "I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format. The next real-life story we follow in The Untitled Michael Sam Project promises to spark valuable, important discussion on life in America today. Acceptance and illumination start here."

Stay tuned for more details.
