It’s quite the day for McLaren. Reports indicate that a McLaren F1 has sold for a record-breaking $10 million in the United Kingdom. The previous sales record for McLaren’s iconic hypercar was set last year when a 1997 F1 sold for $8,470,000 at auction.

The car in question is chassis 28, reportedly one of only two factory red models, which was built as a gift to Michael Andretti on behalf of McLaren. It eventually changed hands a few times, ended up in California, and now resides in England with its new owner.

As far as hypercars go, it’s one of the rarest. Only 106 models were produced from 1992 to 1998, commensurate to the enormous price tag. Start saving.
