Last night’s win for Floyd Mayweather Jr. over Marcos Maidana was hardly an hour old when talk already had shifted to a possible rematch. It’s not often a fighter can push Floyd the way Maidana did, and it’s natural to want to see these two mix it up again.

But is it really going to happen? To hear them tell it, absolutely.

This series of tweets that emerged in the aftermath of the fight seem to indicate that we’ll be seeing a rematch this fall:

"If the fans want to see it again we can do it again." -- Floyd Mayweather (So the rematch comes later this year.)
Floyd: 'If he feel he won, he can get it again in September.' #boxing #MayweatherMaidana
Floyd: We can do it again right now. Tell em to put the ring back up. #boxing #MayweatherMaidana
Maidana: "Enough words, just give me the f---ing rematch."

How soon until we can get this rematch confirmed? While there are several other legitimate contenders to fight Mayweather next including Amir Khan and Miguel Cotto, there’s no doubt that after Maidana reportedly hit Floyd more times than anyone ever has, fans will want to see these two mix it up again as soon as possible.
