LeBron James Says Most NBA Players Would Have Played Through a Concussion Like Paul George Did Earlier This Week

LeBron James just revealed that just about all NBA players would play through a concussion like Paul George did in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

During Game 2 of the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals, Paul George got kneed in the head by Dwyane Wade on a play late in the game and suffered a concussion. George later admitted that he blacked out for a while and was dizzy for the remainder of the contest. But he didn't seek medical treatment or check out of the game because, well, it was Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals and he wanted to be out on the floor.

As of right now, George's status for Game 3 of the ECF is still up in the air because of the concussion. But late yesterday, LeBron James stood up for George, who has caught some flack for not exiting the game after suffering his concussion. James admitted that most NBA players would have done the same thing as George because, as we said, it was Game 2 of the ECF.

"I think every last player in the Final Four would have played through it," James said. "This is the conference finals, and obviously, a concussion is very serious. Our concussion test is not as extensive as the NFL. It doesn't happen as much. I think all of us would have played through it under the circumstances."

We don't doubt that. In the heat of the moment, it's hard to get an athlete to check out of a game for any reason. So we've seen guys play through all kinds of injuries. But concussions are different. And we wouldn't be surprised at all if the NBA decides to implement more effective concussion tests in the near future. Because while it was admirable to see George give it his best effort in Game 2 despite his injury, he could have done some really serious damage to himself if he had suffered another blow to the head during the game.
