During an incredibly self-destructive interview with Anderson Cooper, disgraced Clippers owner Donald Sterling attacked Magic Johnson’s charitable record, repeatedly accused him of having “AIDS,” and called Magic “a bad example for the children of Los Angeles.” Afterwards, NBA commish Adam Silver released a statement apologizing to the Lakers legend and continued:
“The NBA Board of Governors is continuing with its process to remove Mr. Sterling as expeditiously as possible.”
Well, Silver better step on it because—according to the Player’s Union—LeBron James will not play if Donald Sterling is still in an owner next season.Jim Rome on Showtime released a teaser for Wednesday night’s episode, which features NBA Player’s Association vice president Roger Mason Jr. In the clip, host Jim Rome asks, “LeBron, you think he would not play if Sterling were still there when the season started?”
Mason Jr. responds, “LeBron and I talked about this. He ain’t playing.”
Given the likelihood of a long, drawn out court battle over ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers, a LeBron James-led boycott is a potentially huge story. The Miami Heat play Game 5 tonight in Miami, where James will undoubtedly be asked about Mason Jr.’s comments. You can catch Wedenesday's episode of Jim Rome on Showtime at 9 p.m. Eastern, on Showtime. Stay tuned.
