With the series tied at two, the Detroit Pistons probably thought that as long as they continue to knock down their free throws, they would defeat the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals after forcing a turnover with only five seconds remaining. The Pistons could've never foreseen the memory lapse by Isiah Thomas...or the incredible heroics by Larry Bird, who stole the inbounds pass and dished it off to Dennis Johnson for the game-winning layup.
