Could you imagine hearing commissioner Roger Goodell utter those words on Thursday? Believe it or not, that could've been a reality because, according to 'Boys owner Jerry Jones, Manziel was the highest-rated player on their draft board when their turn came around.
While talking with Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill, Jones raved about Manziel and explained why he couldn't pull the trigger on taking the former Aggies quarterback.
Jerry Jones believes JFF will has outstanding instincts and will have an outstanding career in the NFL. But he would not start over Romo
Jerry Jones said JFF is the game-changing type of player you must consider altering your plan for. And cowboys spent a few moments on it
Jerry Jones reiterated that they didnt spent a lot of time on JFF though because they remain committed to Romo at quarterback for years
Jerry Jones said the Cowboys couldnt have the specter of JFF sitting on the bench for three years
Jerry also made one interesting comparison to Manziel's level of celebrity status:
Jerry Jones called JFF a celebrity, called him Elvis Presley. Said the attention of him coming to Dallas would have been too much
Um, we don't know about the Elvis comparison, but yeah, Manziel to Dallas would've definitely been too much.
