Imagine this: It's Jan. 2014 and the radio alarm wakes you up from the night's sleep. You think back to how great it was watching Stone Cold Steve Austin give the stunner to Triple H at the end of Raw. Your mind wanders and you notice Paul Heyman's voice come from the radio. He's introducing a record. It's Coke Boys and it's Hot 97.

That's not an absurdist fan fiction. Heyman was almost a Hot 97 DJ, according to him.

Stone Cold had Heyman as a guest on his podcast. For those unfamiliar, Heyman was Stone Cold's manager during the '90s WCW, pre-badass superstar days.

Heyman, then known Paul E. Dangerous, was fired suddenly from the WCW. A disheartened Heyman then considered taking a morning DJ spot at Hot 97, where he would compete with Howard Stern. "Here's a smart ass Jewish kid from Scarsdale, NY and I was going to go head to head with Howard Stern that September," he says. "The deal was cut. I was out of the business."

He was convinced to come back into the industry by promoter Jim Crockett, Jr., so Heyman in the mornings wasn't meant to be.

Stone Cold also hinted that he was thinking of returning to the ring. When prompted by Heyman in the podcast, he simply says, “Well, that’s a conversation Vince and I need to have one day." In an interview with Pro Wrestling Torch, he responds with a "maybe." Stone Cold left the ring because of severe injuries and being dissatisfied with the direction of his character.

Sighs...If only things had been a little different.
