It isn’t often that small start-up companies break onto the scene quickly, but when they do – you tend to take notice. We did. Erik Buell Racing got the ball rolling in 2009, and successfully rolled out their flagship model last year– the gorgeous 1190RS. This year, they’ve got another.
The 2014 EBR 1190RX follows up on the team’s foremost model, offering agility and performance in the well-rounded 1190 package. The powerful 1190cc ET-V2 V-Twin is retained in the new model, but with power turned up to 185hp at 10,600rpm. All that grunt is managed through EBR’s lightweight aluminum frame and aluminum swingarm rear suspension (419lbs), featuring Showa front forks and rear single-shocks.
But it’s not all about speed and lightness; the RX can stop in a hurry thanks to its 386mm front rotor and 8-piston caliper with a 220mm disc in the rear. The bike has just begun to roll out of the factory and into dealer showrooms for an attractive $18,995.
