The Eagle has landed--or should we say--flew 100 miles south to play the 2014 season in the nation's capitol. Redskins fans, as you slept your team got richer adding DeSean Jackson to Robert Griffin and first-year coach Jay Gruden's arsenal of weapons. Earlier in the night, the Washington QB publicly lobbied for Jackson's addition on his Twitter account. Hours later Jackson was penned to a three-year deal.
In Jackson, the Redskins are getting a bonafide No. 1 threat to compliment Pierre Garcon (113 catches, 1346 yards, 5 touchdowns in 2014) the NFL's reigning receptions leader. Jackson himself is coming off a career year (82 catches, 1332 yards, 9 touchdowns) but was cut by Philadelphia amongst purported tension between him and Head Coach Chip Kelly as well as alleged gang ties that troubled the organization. By cutting the vertical threat the Eagles took a major salary cap hit but simultaneously reinforced their belief in Kelly as their leader.
At 27-years-old, Jackson still has a lot left in the tank and it'll certainly be interesting to see how the receiver fairs against the Eagles when he faces off against them twice this season.
