The final two teams to open the 2014 season took the field a few minutes ago in Houston at the Astros' Minute Made Park. The big storyline? Derek Jeter and the beginning of his "farewell tour." As he approached the plate he received the first of many warm ovations from the Texas crowd. After the reception The Captain dug in and promptly took a fastball off his hand from Astros ace Scott Feldman. Just what anybody coming back from injury wants.
Hopefully it's not an omen for Jeets' final campaign but it leads us to this official prediction: On this day next year the same thing will happen during A-Rod's first plate appearance.
