During the 2013-14 NBA season, Kevin Durant played a lot better than he did during the 2012-13 NBA season. That's not to say that he played poorly last year. It's just that KD was so focused on improving his game last summer that he came back an even better player this season, which is why he is probably going to win the NBA's Most Valuable Player award. But does he deserve the Most Improved Player award, too?
Um, no. Even though he did improve significantly this year, Suns guard Goran Dragic is the recipient of this year's MIP award, and he definitely deserves it. He was one of the driving forces behind Phoenix's surprising success this season. But that didn't stop Clippers color commentator Michael Smith from casting his MIP vote for Durant. His MIP votes also included LeBron James and Blake Griffin and, hey, what the hell?!
Ha. As it turns out, though, Smith did not mean to vote for KD for MIP. His actual pick for MIP? Pelicans center Anthony Davis.
@Ben_Baskin must've been a mistake. Those were my MVP votes. Most improved, I voted for Davis First Dragic second— Michael Smith (@clippstvsmith) April 23, 2014
Ah, now that makes more sense. But if KD somehow ends up missing out on the MVP award by one vote, this guy has some explaining to do! How do you make this mistake?
