Tesla has been dutifully investigating the various garage fires that have plagued the Model S since its debut, and the company has arrived at a solution. Since this is Tesla we're talking about, and Elon Musk appears to be a benevolent version of a James Bond villain, the solution involves a large piece of titanium.

It seems that small amounts of road damage to the underside of peoples' Teslas was at the root of the fire problem, so this shield should keep any given Model S from going full Ferrari and bursting into flames for fun. Any Tesla owner can go get the upgrade free of charge at his or her local dealership at any time, or just wait until the next service when it will be installed automatically.
