Selfless Mom Almost Gets Crushed Under Her Own Car to Save Her Twin Daughters' Lives (Video)

Mother of the year.

Like most mothers, 22-year-old Mindy Tran would do anything to keep her twin daughters Saleen and Sydney safe. So when the Lawrence, Mass. resident was forced to make a split-second decision recently that could have resulted in her getting killed in exchange for saving her daughters' lives, she knew exactly what she had to do.

The trouble started one afternoon when Tran put both of her daughters into their car seats in her Honda Accord, shut the back door of the vehicle, and then walked behind it in order to go and get into the front seat. As she was walking behind the car, she noticed that the car was moving. And within seconds, it had picked up a little bit of speed and was headed directly for a nearby street, where it very well could have been hit by another car. But Tran wouldn't let it happen.

Rather than stand there and watch the car roll away, Tran got behind it, laid down, and let the car run over her. It shattered her knee, broke her leg, and dislocated both her shoulder and her hip. But it also slowed the car down and allowed her neighbor to jump into the front seat in order to stop the car completely. And fortunately, thanks to Tran's quick thinking, the car didn't make it to the street and neither of Tran's daughters were injured during the ordeal. Don't call her a hero, though. She says she was just doing what she had to do.

"I don't consider myself a hero," she said. "I am just a mother."

And a damn good one at that. What a story.
