In only his fourth season, Paul George has developed quite the NBA resume with back-to-back All-Star selections (2013-14), the 2013 Most Improved Player award and an exponential increase in points per game with every passing year. However, as they say, there's always room for improvement, which is why George would like to get himself a mentor, and he wants none other than LeBron James. “It would be great to be able to pick his brain, pick his mind and just talk about the game because I think he’s a player that can help me get to the next level and continue to keep going to the next level,” PG said. “I wish some day we have that relationship where he is someone I can talk to—not during the season because I’m too competitive during the season—but maybe in the summertime.”
In his discussion with Basketball Insiders, George also stressed that LeBron motivates him to get better and when the two match up against one another, their competitive nature shines through, forcing the Pacers forward to want to "come out as the best player of that game." However, when it's all said and done, George looks up to James because "the position I want to be in is where he’s at.”
And George isn't stopping at getting LeBron as his mentor. Paul also has his sights set on Kobe Bryant.
“All-Star Weekend, he gave me a couple words and every time I do run into him he gives me a couple words,” George said. “He’s a player as well that I look up to and wish would mentor me.”
With all these pearls of wisdom, George is bound to develop into a real special NBA player for years to come. We should probably remind you that George is only 23 years old.
