Back in January, we told you that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was mulling over the idea of eliminating the extra point because, as he put it in an interview with Rich Eisen of the NFL Network, "The extra point is almost automatic. I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd (attempts). So it's a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play." Luckily, Goodell came to his senses and instead of getting rid of the extra point altogether, the league will use two preseason games to experiment with a proposal of the New England Patriots. In those two unknown games, the ball will be snapped from the 20-yard line thereby making it 38-yard attempt. Not so easy now, right? Guess we'll find out.

In addition to that alteration, the league has also instituted the following changes:

— Raising of goal post uprights from 30 to 35 feet.
