Republican Politician Says Street Crime Would Rise If NBA Teams Fold

Every profession—sports and non-sports—has its share of criminals and felons. But for some reason, it's the athletes that gets labeled as "thugs." Richard Sherman and Marcus Smart, who've never been convicted of a serious crime, aren't too far from the label in the eyes of many. Republican State Representative Pat Garofalo showed he's at least near this level of thinking in an ill-advised tweet:

Let's be honest, 70% of teams in NBA could fold tomorrow + nobody would notice a difference w/ possible exception of increase in streetcrime

There's no context or provocation behind this tweet judging from his feed. There isn't really anything that's justifies the tweet, however. It's a wonder why he doesn't explain his reasoning, if—you know—we're being honest.
