And takes aim at the Porsche 911.

Before we knew everything about the McLaren 650S, there was heavy speculation as to where it would slot in company’s lineup. Some wanted a base model, others wanted another hypercar, but eventually McLaren came clean, revealing that the 650S would replace the four-year-old MP4-12C. Now we have exciting details that confirm McLaren will be following this up with not one, but two new models over the next few years

The rumored McLaren P15 will take the reins as the company’s new flagship model, picking up where the limited-run P1 has left off. It is pegged to utilize the same carbon monocoque chassis and 3.8L twin-turbo V8 as its stable mates, with higher engine tuning (estimated to be around 700 hp).  Pricing is expected to hit the $500,000 mark, putting it significantly out of reach of 99 percent of us.

But don’t give up hope just yet. McLaren will also introduce a base model set to rival the Porsche 911. It will slot below the midrange 650S, contain similar internals as its big brothers, and is expected to produce around 500 horses of raucous British muscle. So far no pricing or further details have been announced. It appears that the reasonably successful among you could potentially own your own base-model McLaren in the near future. Tick tock, time to start saving.
