Less than a week after Kansas was eliminated from the 2014 NCAA Tournament after getting upset by Stanford, Jayhawks center Joel Embiid has reportedly already decided that he will forgo the rest of his college eligibility in order to enter the 2014 NBA Draft. An official announcement hasn't been made by Embiid yet. But Yahoo! Sports writer Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Embiid is currently looking for an agent and will announce his intention to enter the draft once that process is over.
Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks for Kansas during the 2013-14 college basketball season. But he also suffered a stress fracture in his back towards the end of the regular season and didn't play a single minute during the postseason. So it seems strange that he would declare for the draft so quickly without first letting his back fully heal. But at any rate, he's likely a surefire top-3 pick in the draft. So we're not surprised to hear that he wants to leave Kansas after just one season.
