If you ever have to get hit by a truck, this is the way to do it.
On Tuesday afternoon, a cyclist was traveling down a street in Lansing, Mich. when, out of nowhere, a pickup truck sped by him at a fairly high rate of speed. As the truck passed, it accidentally hit the man and knocked him off of his bike. But at the same time as the truck hit the man, a mattress that was in the back of the truck also fell out and came to a rest on the road. And by complete chance, the cyclist fell directly onto the mattress when it landed, which helped cushion his fall and kept him safe after the accident.
It's unclear if the man suffered any injuries as a result of getting hit by the truck. But as you can see in the GIF above, he caught a huge break when the mattress fell out of the truck. Because without it, we'd probably be writing a much different story about him right now.
