Porsche took a very public approach when revealing the team’s new 919 LMP1 car for the 2014 WEC. Toyota is less inviting, exemplified in this video of the shadowy 2014 TS040 Hybrid LMP1. There’s little detail to see, but here’s what we can tell you.

This year’s TS040 will be powered by a gasoline V8 and electric motor driving the rear wheels, accompanied by an electric motor mated to the front wheels to give Toyota’s LMP1 all-wheel drive. Like Audi and Porsche’s cars, the electric motors provide energy recovery upon deceleration to charge the hybrid system.

The video features drivers Alex Wurz and Anthony Davidson testing the car at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. They will be accompanied by Sebastien Buemi, Stephane Sarrazin, Kazuki Nakajima, and Nicolas Lapierre to field both cars this season.
