Take a listen to the fan-made video above that compares the 2013 and 2014 F1 cars from the same point of Albert Park’s circuit. Formula 1 drew a lot of criticism after last weekend’s season opener for the new less-than-crazy engine sounds. F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone even went as far to say that he was “horrified” by the lack of noise, and that he’d look into making them sound more like race cars again.

But the more we listen to it, the more these cars sound like pod racers from Star Wars, all aside from Anakin Vettel’s pod racer of course. If Ecclestone is looking to reengineer the sounds of the 2014 cars, may we suggest the Death Star laser as a starting point?
