Land Rover’s venerable Discovery SUV cracks the quarter century mark, and to celebrate its 25 years of production, LR is offering the XXV Special Edition. Albeit an obvious ploy to boost sales of the aging family off-roader, the XXV offers some unique design elements on one of the world’s most capable out-of-the-box exploration vehicles.

The Special Edition wears your choice of four exterior colors from Land Rover’s grayscale palette, featuring accented grill and fender vents, silver roof rails, color-matched door handles, and a stainless steel bumper. XXV badges can be found on the front and rear of the vehicle, which sits on 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels – not exactly Dakar-spec, but quite pretty.

Inside, the Disco receives a thorough leather makeover, complemented by custom “XXV” embossing, just so you don’t forget that you’re more important than the average motorist. It’s still the stoic Discovery that we love, but with a beaming new grin for 2014.
