If you feel like you're having deja vu, you're not alone. In late January, Kobe Bryant was told by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo that he would need to wait three weeks to get his left knee, which was fractured back in mid-December, re-evaluated. Yesterday, the time came for Kobe to get examined by Dr. Lombardo and what do you know, the Black Mamba will miss another three weeks because of "continued pain, swelling and soreness" in his knee.

This latest development means that Bryant won't be seeing Dr. Lombardo until March 14. If Kobe is deemed good to go at that point, there will only be 16 games left in the season. Is it really worth bringing him back to play for a Lakers team that'll already be well out of playoff contention by then? Sure, the fans want to see him play, but L.A. should be thinking about protecting their two-year, $48.5 million investment.

Shut him down for the rest of the season and keep it moving.
