Blame the mask.

If you're watching tonight's game between the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings at Madison Square Garden, and find yourself wondering why J.R. Smith isn't in uniform, we have three words for you. Blame the protective mask. No, really. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Smith just got his mask today and was immediately ruled a game-time decision because Swish needed to see if he was comfortable wearing the mask.

As it turns out, J.R. wasn't comfortable and now has to get it refitted. Smith stressed his concern over playing without the mask, calling it a "risky" move. With this game being the last for the Knicks before the All-Star break, Swish has plenty of time to get comfortable with the mask, maybe even take it for a spin at a couple nightclubs. That's the good news. The bad news is that J.R. will need to have the mask for four to five weeks.
