Google Is Deploying Lobbyists to Fight Legislation that Would Ban Google Glass While Driving

It might get heated.

Chalk it up to a recent House of Cards binge, but I was in no way shocked to find out Google has hired lobbyists to fight Google Glass legislation. Laws to ban Glassing while driving are being considered in at least eight states—including Illinois, Delaware, and Missouri, where Google has deployed its lobbyists.

Google's argument is that this legislation is premature because Google Glass has yet to hit the marketplace. Ira Silverstein, who introduced the bill in Illinois, scoffed at the argument because Google Glass will eventually reach the public. "Who are they fooling?" he said.

Not us. Realistically, Google would fight against this legislation regardless of the timing.
