Here’s the perfect car for your next bout of winter weather. It’s a Ford RS200 rally car, one of only 200 vehicles produced for homologation into the infamous Group B regulations.

The RS200 arrived late in the game for Group B, but in a short time tallied up 19 wins and 32 podiums in international racing, before the FIA closed the books on the deadly group. Featuring four-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.1L Cosworth four-banger, the 500-horsepower RS200 Evolution took the fight to the Peugeot 205 Turbo and Lancia Delta S4, which dominated the segment in 1986.

This street-legal special just sold at a Bonhams auction in Paris for $187,000. It features a slightly detuned 1.8L version of the race engine, and has covered less than 2,500 miles since rolling off the production line. Hopefully, the new owner will thrash this piece of history around a bit.

While you’re at it, take a look at this classic Group B footage from the British leg of the 1986 WRC. Driver Kalle Grundel slid his Ford into fifth place.
