Contrary to what you might assume, the delays happening on the F train in New York City this morning are not because of that nasty winter storm that rolled in overnight. It's actually the result of a small electrical fire on the tracks, according to a couple of accounts on Twitter:
Fire on the F train tracks at Delancey. Made everyone get off the train. incredibly smokey pic.twitter.com/LJLpI3p0HT— Will McDonough (@WillMcD) February 3, 2014
Wow. Just got off F train at Delancey that was ON FIRE. station filling with burning electrical smelling smoke!— Jon Harper (@HarperCommaJon) February 3, 2014
NYCT Subway Service is calling it a "rail condition" and announced that F Trains are running on the A line from Jay St to W 4 St:
Naturally, this has pissed a lot of people off. Considering plenty of them are probably hungover from last night's evening of Super Bowl parties, these aren't exactly the best conditions to be heading to work in:
if this morning was a song it would be called "the f train stands for fuck you"— liza sokool (@_sadwhitegirl) February 3, 2014
The line has resumed, but the city is supposed to get up to eight inches of snow and slush mix today, so this sadly probably won't be the only delay of the day.
